Terms
Last updated October 9, 2026. This is the plain-language version, and it means what it says — there is no longer document that contradicts it.
Pinlocity is run by Based Software, LLC, an Indiana limited liability company (“we”). Using the website or the apps means you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use Pinlocity.
Your account
You need an account to track bowling, and you must be at least 13 to hold one. A bowler under 13 takes part through a parent or guardian’s account, which is how youth profiles work. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian has to agree to these terms with you, and only they can buy a paid plan — so a young bowler keeps their own account and their own games, and nobody under 18 is sold anything. Give us a real email address — it is how we reach you about your account and how you get back in. Keep your password and passkeys to yourself, and tell us at support@pinlocity.com if you think somebody else is in there. What happens under your account is your responsibility, including everything done for the bowlers it holds.
Bowlers you manage
One account can keep several bowlers. A parent or guardian holds the profile of a bowler too young for an account of their own, decides what is shared when they register for an event, and is responsible for what goes in it. From 13 the bowler can open their own account and claim the profile, with a guardian’s approval; the guardian then drops to view-only or is removed. Until then the guardian holds it, and nothing is lost in the handover — the games go with the profile. A coach invited to a profile can read it and write session notes, never sees contact details or date of birth, and is not paid through Pinlocity.
What you put in
Your games, notes, photographs and equipment stay yours. You give us permission to store them, work on them, and show them where you have chosen to show them — a public bowler page, a league sheet, a leaderboard — for as long as you keep the account. Only upload what you have the right to upload. Scoreboard photographs are sent to a vision model purely to read the scores, and nothing you upload is used to train models.
Paid plans
The free tier keeps all the core tracking. Premium and Organizer are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe and renew until you cancel. Cancel in the billing portal and the plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not refund part of a period, and nothing further is charged. If a price changes we will tell you before the renewal it applies to. If a payment fails the account drops back to the free tier — your bowling stays where it is.
Entry fees and prize funds
We never hold your money. An organizer who takes payment online connects their own Stripe account, and the charge for an entry is theirs: they are the seller, they set the entry terms, and they issue the refund. Our platform fee is shown separately at checkout. If an event is cancelled, moved, or does not run the way you were told, that is between you and the organizer — ask them first. We will help where we can, but we cannot refund money we never received.
If you run events
An organizer is responsible for their own event: the entry terms, the prize fund, brackets and side pots, refunds, the roster, the accuracy of the standings, any sanctioning, and whatever law applies to taking money for a prize where they are. Pinlocity computes averages, handicaps and standings from what is entered; where you override a computed number, we require a reason and keep a record of it. Bowlers’ contact details reach you for running your event and for nothing else — not a mailing list, not to pass on, not to keep once you no longer need them.
Scores, averages and standings
Pinlocity keeps records; it does not sanction anything. An average here is not a USBC book average unless your league secretary files it as one, and a leaderboard here is ours rather than anybody’s official record. Scores typed in by hand or read from a photograph can be wrong — check them before anyone bowls off them.
Equipment and oil patterns
The ball catalog and the pattern library are gathered from manufacturers’ published specifications, the USBC approved ball list, the Kegel Pattern Library and other credited sources. We collect and present; we do not test. Before you drill, buy, or bowl on something that matters, confirm the numbers with the manufacturer or your sanctioning body — published specifications change, and some of them contradict each other.
Coaching
Coaching replies are generated advice built from your own numbers. They are a second opinion, not a certified coach, and never medical advice. If something hurts, see somebody qualified.
Fair use
Do not break into any part of this, scrape it in bulk or resell our directories, upload somebody else’s photographs as your own, impersonate another bowler or an organizer, enter scores nobody bowled, harass anyone, or use Pinlocity against the law. We can suspend an account that does.
Ending it
You can delete your account yourself, from Settings on the website or in the app — what is deleted and what stays. Games recorded in a league or tournament stay in that event’s official record, because other bowlers’ standings are calculated from them. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk, and we will say why unless the law stops us.
What we promise, and what we do not
We work hard to keep Pinlocity running and its numbers right, but it is provided as it is: we do not promise it will always be available, or that everything in it is correct. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — a registration that did not go through, a night scored wrong, prize money that went elsewhere — and our total liability on any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before it or one hundred US dollars. Some places do not allow limits like that, and there this applies only as far as it can.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PINLOCITY IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, AND BASED SOFTWARE, LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
The app stores
If you installed the app from Apple or Google, these terms are between you and us — the store is not a party to them and does not support the app. Apple is not responsible if the app does not work, and its only obligation to you would be to refund the purchase price, which is nothing, because the app is free. Apple and Google may enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries. Their own rules apply to you as well as ours.
Changes
Pinlocity is growing and these terms will change with it. Anything material gets notice — in the app or by email — before it applies, and carrying on using Pinlocity after that is how you accept it. The date at the top is the last time this page changed.
If we end up in a dispute
Talk to us first. Before starting anything formal, write to support@pinlocity.com describing the problem and what you want done about it. We will write to you at the address on your account. Both of us agree to try in good faith to sort it out for thirty days from the day that notice arrives.
Then arbitration, one person at a time. If thirty days does not settle it, any dispute arising out of these terms, Pinlocity, anything bought through it, or the relationship between us — in contract, tort, statute or anything else — is resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules in force when the demand is filed (adr.org). The seat is Hamilton County, Indiana, though either of us may ask for hearings by video or telephone and the arbitrator should agree unless there is good reason not to. The arbitrator decides any question about whether a claim belongs in arbitration, and the award is written, final and binding, and may be entered as a judgment in any court that can take it.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU AND BASED SOFTWARE, LLC EACH AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE MUST BE BROUGHT INDIVIDUALLY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, REPRESENTATIVE OR PRIVATE ATTORNEY GENERAL ACTION. The arbitrator may not consolidate anybody else’s claims with yours or award relief to a group. If that waiver is held invalid for a particular claim, that claim alone goes to the courts named below and the rest stays in individual arbitration.
Small claims, and opting out. Either of us can still bring an individual claim in small-claims court, as long as it stays there. And you can opt out of arbitration altogether: email support@pinlocity.com with the subject “Arbitration Opt-Out” within thirty days of first accepting these terms, giving your name and the email address on your account. If you opt out in time, neither of us can compel arbitration and disputes go to the courts named below. Opting out changes nothing else here.
Who pays, and what happens to a pile of identical claims. Filing and arbitrator fees are allocated by the AAA consumer rules, and for a claim seeking $75,000 or less we pay what those rules require us to pay. If twenty-five or more substantially similar demands are filed against us by the same or coordinated counsel within ninety days, they are arbitrated in staged batches: ten representative demands chosen by claimants’ counsel go first, time limits on the rest are paused while they run, no award binds another, and after each batch we mediate once before a mediator we agree on — or one the AAA appoints if we cannot agree within ten days.
This is a transaction in interstate commerce, so the Federal Arbitration Act governs how this section is read and enforced, whatever else these terms say about which law applies. This section survives your account ending.
Which law, and where
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Indiana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Anything not resolved by arbitration — including a proceeding to compel or stop arbitration, or to confirm, correct or set aside an award — belongs to the state or federal courts sitting in Hamilton County, Indiana, and we each consent to those courts.
